A hearty human fighter, raised in the Dwarven martial tradition.
Orik remembers little of his childhood before he lived with the Dwarven clans in the Indirac Mountains. Mainly his memories are of a smiling mother in a yellow apron, a father with thick-calloused hands, and the smell of fish.
His foster mother, Dorntek Fullbeard, told him the story of his parents, who were trying to cross the Indiracs and were set upon by a mountain giant. The giant was being pursued and harried by a group of dwarves trying to chase it out of their territory. With men on one side and dwarves the other, the giant made a final stand, and killed nearly all of the humans and 3 of the 7 dwarves, including Dorntek’s lover, Orik Mightflint. After the battle, Dorntek wept at the side of her dead lover, and suddenly there appeared a young human boy of about 4 years, who had been hiding under an overturned pack-basket. He went to Dorntek and consoled her, not yet realizing his own losses. Afterwards the two were inseparable, and he was raised with the clans under the mountains.
