Arysus is the capital city and namesake for the Kingdom of Arysus. Its people are known as Arysian, though the local languages were long lost to the Ilban Empire, and the population generally speaks the common Ilban tongue.
The ruler of Arysus is Queen Zelda, a nonagenarian who has outlived all expectations placed upon her life span. She has placed her goals past royalty and into divinity – she has slowly reorganized the state religion, the 5-in-1 deity of the Pentate, so that she is high priestess and mouth of the god(s) in Arysus. Many scoff at her obsession, and it isn’t widely known whether she has had any success in her bid for goddess-hood.
She has a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her only remaining son, Humperdink, is heir to the throne, and has been heir for almost 40 years. Humperdink has his own children and grandchildren, and his eldest daughter Reyneria is second in line for the throne, followed by her children. Humperdink is respected almost as a king throughout the kingdom, and has taken many of the responsibilities of rule over from his mother as she has aged, though she by know means allows him free reign. Humperdink’s youngest son Frederic is well-loved by the populace for his mastery in the jousting tilt and his habit of riding about the kingdom, getting to know his people and looking for daring deeds in need of doing.
